GRAFTED / Beefsteak Tomato – large, meaty and full of flavour
The grafted Beefsteak Tomato produces very large, heavy fruit with thick flesh and few seed chambers. A single slice covers a whole piece of bread. Because fruit like this places heavy demands on the plant, the grafted rootstock really shows its strength here: more nutrient supply, bigger fruit, a longer harvest.
What makes this tomato special
- 🍅 Very large, heavy fruit with thick flesh
- 🌿 Vigorous growth – needs staking and regular side-shoot removal
- ✅ Full of flavour, juicy and low in seeds
Why grafted?
- 🌿 Strong rootstock – more root power, more water and nutrients
- 🌿 More resistant to soil fatigue and root diseases
- 🌿 Higher yield over a longer harvest period
- ✅ Important when planting: keep the graft union above the soil
