American despite the name
The name is misleading: Capsicum chinense does not come from China but from the Amazon region – an early botanist erred about its origin. This species includes some of the hottest chillies in the world, among them the habanero and the notorious “superhots”.
Warmth and patience
These varieties need a lot of warmth and a long season – an early start on the windowsill is worthwhile. You are rewarded with an unmistakably fruity aroma behind the intense heat.
