The classic pea
Shelling peas owe their name to the fact that you “shell” them out of the pod. Their smooth seed is somewhat more starchy and less sweet than that of the marrowfat pea – but they are robust and also suitable for drying.
From the bed to the pot
Freshly cooked, shelling peas are a fine side dish; dried, they become the basis of hearty stews and soups. A proven crop with a long garden tradition.
