A young invention

Compared to many vegetables, kohlrabi is a fairly young breed from Central Europe – even its name passed unchanged into English as “kohlrabi”. The thickened, above-ground stem tuber is harvested.

Best raw

Kohlrabi grows quickly and without fuss. Harvested young, it is especially tender – raw in sticks a crunchy snack that is popular with young and old.
