Waarom “ijs”-sla?

De naam komt uit de VS: om de vaste kroppen over grote afstanden vers te vervoeren, werden ze vroeger op ijs verpakt – “iceberg lettuce”. Zijn dichte, knapperige krop blijft ook in de koelkast bijzonder lang goed.

Knapperig genot

IJsbergsla blijft zelfs met dressing mooi knapperig en is de basis van veel klassiekers zoals Caesar salad of burgergarnituren. Een zonnige, gelijkmatig vochtige plek laat de kroppen mooi vast worden.
